Can Distillation remove Fluoride?

A very pertinent question and the answer is - Yes, distillation removes fluoride from water. It is known that fluoride is sometimes added to the municipal water supply because it helps prevent tooth decay. However, there is a never ending controversy surrounding fluoridation.

Some of the points of view placed forward by various people are:

  • After childhood, fluoridation is not as effective in preventing tooth decay.
  • Fluoride tablets are much more cost effective, allowing administration of fluoride to only those that desire it.
  • There is controversy concerning health problems that could be caused by fluoride.
  • Since less than 2% of the water used by a household is used for drinking, fluoridation of the entire water supply is expensive and wasteful.
