Neutralizing filters
Neutralizing filters are utilized to treat acidic water.
These filters use limestone chips or other neutralizing agent for the process.
In this case, the filter treats all of the home water supply by passing it through
limestone chips or other neutralizing agent. Treatment and purification of acidic
water is very important because at places where it does occur, it can carry
with it lead, copper or other toxic metals from household pipes into the water
supply. All these constituents are harmful and should be eliminated, a neutralizing
filter , combined with either reverse
osmosis, or distillation, is an excelent combination
to ensure the purest water quality.
While this type of filter requires little maintenance except the need to occasionally
replace the limestone chips. The filter poses two potential problems which are:
it may increase water hardness ( which can be eliminated with a water
softener system) and acidic water may intensify any iron problems already
present in the water supply. However, the basic problem of acidic water which
is more pressing gets addressed and these minor issues can be taken care of
by usage of subsequent trains.
